Family Tree

Family history, with receipts

The family tree that shows its work.

Every name, date and place in your tree can point to the record it came from - and say how far to trust it. When two records disagree, the tree keeps both instead of picking one for you.

Birth record, Lier 1922, no. 412
DocumentedOriginal record, primary information
FatherJan Peeters - or Joannes Peeters?
Sources disagreeThe birth record and a memorial card name him differently, so both are kept.

Every fact, sourced and cited

File a birth record, a gravestone, a census page, or someone else's tree, then cite it for the exact fact it supports - a birth date, a death, a parent link. Each citation records whether the document is an original or a copy and whether its informant could have known, so a date from a register and a date from a stranger's tree never look the same.

The scan is kept with the tree, and for images its text is read, so the names inside become searchable.

An assistant that works in the open

Ask it to add a family from a record, fix a spelling, or check who is who. It can cite the source for each fact it adds, and leave a fact marked as unverified when that is all it is.

Everything it changes is written to the tree's history - who, when, and through which door - and you can undo it. People who can only view a tree cannot change it, and neither can their assistants.

Edit it from Claude or ChatGPT

Your tree speaks MCP. Add it as a custom connector in an assistant that supports them - Claude, ChatGPT and others - and it can read and edit your trees there.

Connector address:

Sign in when asked and approve. It reaches your family trees and nothing else; you can disconnect it any time.

Your tree comes with you

Import any GEDCOM 5.5.1 or 7.0 file - from Ancestry, MyHeritage, FamilySearch, Gramps and the rest. People, families and sources come across; what cannot be stored exactly is kept as a note or reported, never silently dropped.

Download it again whenever you like. It is your tree, not ours.

Built to be shared

Invite relatives to edit, or to just look. Every change shows in the history with an Undo, so a stranger's mistake - or your own - is a click to put back.

Living people stay private: public pages and share links never name them.

Pages for the people who have died

If you choose to, each person who has died gets a plain page of their own - dates, places, family, and the sources behind them - that others researching the same family can find.

Off until you turn it on, and never for anyone who may be alive.

No DNA. Just the paper trail.

There is no kit to buy and nothing to match against strangers. This is for people who want to know how they know - and want the next person to be able to check.
